Tessera

Mathematics you can see.

Why Visual Mathematics?

Deaf children process visual information sequentially. They cannot watch an animation and read text simultaneously. Existing educational software is either too text-heavy or visually overwhelming. Eight percent of boys have color vision deficiency, and most apps ignore it. Tessera addresses all of this from the ground up.

An interactive educational app built on a custom rendering engine. A visual language based on mosaic tiles (tesserae), where mathematical operations are demonstrated through animation, not text. CVD-safe palette, WCAG AAA accessibility, touch-first design for school tablets. Runs in the browser and natively, with no network communication and no user data.

Mathematics is a language you see.

Three Pillars

Accessibility First

Research-backed design: DeafSpace principles, CRA approach, Montessori colors. WCAG AAA contrast, CVD-safe palette, visual communication without sound. Accessibility is an architectural principle, not an afterthought.

Multi-platform

Web (WASM), Desktop (Linux/Windows/macOS), Mobile (Android/iOS). Touch-first: primary input is touch on a school tablet. Offline-first: no network communication, no user data. Open source license for access to grant programs.

Custom Engine

GPU-accelerated rendering via custom Iskra engine (wgpu). MSDF text for crystal-clear labels on every screen. SDF shapes for smooth animations even on older devices.
